Chambers of Kaushik & Luthra is a New Delhi-based litigation chambers drawing on more than three decades of practice before the Supreme Court of India, High Courts, district courts, and specialised tribunals.
The Chambers represents individuals, families, government employees, defence personnel, businesses, and institutions in litigation, advisory, and dispute-resolution matters. Its work is court-facing and litigation-led, with advisory assignments undertaken where legal issues require strategic assessment, structured documentation, or preparation for contested proceedings.
THE PRACTICE
The Chambers has developed an exceptionally extensive practice in service and administrative law, particularly before the Central Administrative Tribunal, Principal Bench, New Delhi, the Delhi High Court, and the Supreme Court of India. Its work in this area includes recruitment and selection disputes, promotion and seniority matters, disciplinary proceedings, pay and pension claims, service-benefit disputes, transfer and deputation issues, regularisation claims, and disputes involving public authorities, government departments, autonomous bodies, statutory authorities, and public sector institutions.
Defence personnel litigation is another important part of the Chambers’ work. The Chambers appears in matters concerning disability pension, service benefits, promotion and seniority, court martial proceedings, post-retirement claims, and related disputes involving serving personnel, veterans, and their families. Matters are handled before the Armed Forces Tribunal, High Courts, and the Supreme Court, depending on the nature of the relief and the forum available in law.
The Chambers also handles family and matrimonial litigation, mediation, civil and commercial disputes, criminal litigation and economic offences, tender and public procurement disputes, arbitration-related litigation, insolvency proceedings, consumer disputes, intellectual property and brand protection work, property litigation, and regulatory proceedings arising from contested matters. These areas often intersect with one another, particularly where family disputes involve property and succession issues, service matters involve constitutional remedies, government contract disputes require arbitration or writ proceedings, or commercial disputes require parallel civil, criminal, arbitral, or tribunal proceedings.
The Chambers’ approach places emphasis on careful pleadings, command over the record, practical forum strategy, and sustained involvement of counsel at each stage of litigation. Matters may involve consultation, legal opinion, pre-litigation strategy, drafting of pleadings, filing before courts and tribunals, interim applications, trial work, appellate proceedings, settlement documentation, execution, and related advisory work.
Initial consultations are ordinarily conducted in person at the Chambers’ office in New Delhi. Where appropriate, consultations may also be conducted by telephone or video conference. Time-sensitive matters may be communicated by telephone during office hours.
Where a matter involves connected proceedings before more than one forum, or requires coordination with counsel in another jurisdiction, the Chambers undertakes coordinated litigation strategy in accordance with the needs of the case.
