Programme

Students enrolled in a recognised law programme may apply. Ordinarily, applications are considered from students in the third year and above of a five-year law course, and the second year and above of a three-year law course. Applications from other students may be considered where the applicant demonstrates suitable interest, writing ability, or prior exposure to litigation.

Applicants should submit a CV, cover letter, and preferably a short writing sample. Applications should ordinarily be made at least two months before the proposed month of internship.

The standard duration of internship is four weeks. Interns are expected to attend court and office as required. Working hours may vary depending on court appearances, filings, conferences, research assignments, and chamber requirements.

Interns may be assigned legal research, case-law compilation, drafting assistance, file preparation, court observation, note-making, and other litigation-related tasks. The nature of work assigned will depend on the requirements of the Chambers and the intern’s ability, reliability, and quality of work.

Interns are expected to maintain professional conduct at all times. Appropriate court and office attire is expected. Confidentiality must be maintained in relation to all client matters, internal discussions, documents, drafts, and chamber communications.

Plagiarism, unauthorised disclosure of information, misrepresentation, or breach of confidentiality may result in immediate discontinuation of the internship.

Any stipend is subject to satisfactory completion of the internship, attendance, quality of work, and the discretion of the Chambers.

A certificate of completion may be issued upon satisfactory completion of the internship. Interns may be required to submit a brief written report of the work undertaken before the conclusion of the internship.
