Jyotsna Kaushik

Jyotsna Kaushik is an Advocate based in New Delhi with over three decades of practice before courts, tribunals, and mediation forums. Her work is principally concentrated in matrimonial and family law, mediation, civil litigation, service-related matters, and disputes involving defence personnel.

Her practice includes proceedings relating to divorce, maintenance, permanent alimony, child custody, guardianship, domestic violence, matrimonial property, streedhan, succession-linked disputes, injunctions, recovery claims, service benefits, pension-related disputes, and other civil proceedings. She appears in matters before the Family Courts, District Courts, the High Court of Delhi, the Armed Forces Tribunal, and the Supreme Court of India.

Matrimonial and family law forms a central part of her work. She handles both contested proceedings and consent-based resolutions, including matters where questions of residence, custody, maintenance, property, inheritance, and enforcement overlap. Her approach to these disputes is shaped by long courtroom experience and a practical understanding of negotiated settlements.

Her mediation work is closely connected with her litigation practice. She assists parties in family and civil disputes in assessing legal rights, practical risks, interim arrangements, settlement terms, and the long-term consequences of proposed resolutions. This litigation-informed approach is particularly relevant in matrimonial and family matters, where the dispute often carries consequences beyond the immediate proceeding.

Jyotsna Kaushik has substantial experience in service law and defence personnel litigation. She serves as Senior Panel Counsel for the Union of India before the Armed Forces Tribunal, Principal Bench, New Delhi, and as Panel Counsel representing the Union of India before the Supreme Court. Her practice in these areas complements the Chambers’ broader service law and public employment practice, which continues to be one of its core strengths.

She is also a member of the Internal Complaints Committee of the Armed Forces Tribunal Bar Association.
